Committees help shape the life of our church by organizing activities, supporting staff, and carrying out our shared mission. They’re also a meaningful way to build relationships while making a real difference in our congregation. Explore the committee descriptions below and consider where you might feel called to serve.

Provides people of all ages with positive experiences within the walls of the church. Fosters a sense of deep belonging in a community of faith and to a living, loving God. Equips people for a lived Christian faith. We are privileged to be a part of the faith journeys of others.
We promote Christian care and fellowship within the congregation and surrounding community by welcoming and integrating new church members, creating meaningful opportunities for connection, and encouraging deeper involvement in the life and work of the church. By tending to practical needs such as accessibility, transportation, visitation, and membership records, we help ensure that everyone feels included and supported. There’s a deep sense of purpose found in strengthening the bonds that hold our church family together.
We’re motivated by the positive difference we bring to our community through the promotion of mission and service opportunities and the development and oversight of outreach programs and projects. We lead the congregation’s response to arising needs, ser fundraising goals, maintain awareness of social issues, and encourage participation in mission work.
We bring our church community together through meaningful celebrations, special events and fundraising initiatives that support the mission and ministry of Grace United Church. We work collaboratively to plan and carry out events that nurture the spiritual life of the congregation, build connections and create opportunities for fellowship, service and joy. Joining our committee is a wonderful way to share your ideas, talents and enthusiasm while helping to strengthen the church community.
Experience a space to share ideas, use your gifts, and be part of creating something that brings people together. Together, we shape meaningful and engaging worship experiences for the Grace community. We collaborate on everything from music and creative elements, to coordinating greeters, audio/visual technicians, and communion servers, to establishing the overall flow of the service. We further act as a sounding board and support to the ministers for routine affairs and new worship initiatives.
Ensures the church stays connected, informed, and engaged. By shaping the weekly newsletter, keeping bulletin boards fresh, updating the outdoor sign, and tending to the website and social media, we’re connecting with newcomers and engaging our community in the life and work of the church. We also quietly support behind‑the‑scenes essentials - maintaining office equipment, managing telecommunications, and providing oversight for the Office Administrator.
We are dedicated to making church finances clear and accessible to the congregation, including: budget creation and reporting, financial record keeping, and investment management. We take pride in our sound decision-making and fresh eyes are always appreciated.
We welcome new members called to nurture and sustain our staff team as they carry out their responsibilities to our congregation. We provide leadership in the care and oversight of the work of the staff. We foster positive staff relationships with one another and the congregation, provide support so staff can function at the best of their ability, and ensure appropriate remuneration so they know their contributions are valued.
Help us shape the future of our Grace United Church. As a group we:
- Explore insights gathered from church life research
- Keep a finger on the pulse of the lived experience of the congregation (are we doing what we ought to be?)
- Identify themes that may illuminate God’s purposes for Grace United Church
- Support Council by developing forward-looking statements and plans that advance this ministry, study topics referred by Council, review project proposals, and oversee the Stewardship Subcommittee
- Listen to, and consider, the United Church of Canada national priorities as they lead us
Members of this committee often feel inspired to contribute to something larger than themselves—something that will endure into the future. Listening to the hopes of the church community, exploring new ideas, and helping the church grow with intention and care creates a deep sense of purpose.
Our team keeps the church’s physical home safe, welcoming, and ready for ministry. We maintain our buildings, equipment, and grounds; ensure building security; support the staff in their work; and provide oversight for our Custodian. As a helper, you will have the satisfaction of applying your skills to solving problems or completing projects. As a committee member, you will see the impact of your talents and interests every time someone walks through the doors, gathers for worship, or participates in community life.
Make a meaningful difference beyond your local church. Take part in thoughtful conversation and debate at Regional Council meetings, contribute your gifts to a commission (such as Congregational Support, Pastoral Relations, or Discipleship and Justice), and help keep the congregation connected to the wider church by sharing Regional Council decisions and activities.
